"But What Will People Say?," a memoir and self-help book from writer and therapist Sahaj Kaur Kohli, published on May 7. In “But What Will People Say?,” which published May 7, Kohli explores that fear of judgment, along with other challenges that children of immigrants commonly face: shame, self-sabotaging behaviors and the loss of cultural identity among them. In "But What Will People Say?," Kohli examines the dissonance between Western conversations around mental health and family dynamics in immigrant households. So many of us will feel guilt and all of a sudden be like, “I’m doing something wrong. Do you feel guilt because your parents are subscribing to a different set of values that don’t align with yours?

Opinion: ‘Boysober’ comes with some baggage

Are you sure you’re doing the right thing? Whereas “self-partnered’ connotes a vague but cheerful sense of romantic self-care, “boysober” very obviously comes with baggage. To get painfully literal about it: The existence of “boysober” implies the existence of “boydrunk.” Going boysober, one can therefore assume, isn’t just about celibacy or a break from dating. Woodard gets into this in a YouTube video she’s posted ahead of a podcast series on her boysober project. Even if you’re not wholly sure what you’re doing, claiming some agency over that process is reassuring.

My marriage dissolved when my son was 2; 26 years later, I'm still single. I wonder how my son cultivated a healthy relationship without seeing a healthy example. I imagine the healthy relationship I created with my son helped. It's the type of relationship I've always envisioned for myself, as someone who's been single for 26 years. It's been interesting to see his happy relationship juxtaposed with my pastMy marriage ended when my son was 2; 26 years later, I'm still single.

Former SEC chief Jay Clayton said the US and China have become increasingly codependent in recent years. If tensions rise between the two superpowers, it could pose huge risks for both economies, he told CNBC. "We are deeply embedded in China... That means that any kind of sharp pullback is going to have significant economic consequences." "Our largest, most important global company has that kind of co-dependency with China," Clayton said on Friday. That means that any kind of sharp pullback is going to have significant economic consequences," Clayton said, adding that a "pivot has to come."
‘Renfield’ Review: Dracula, Worst Boss Ever
  + stars: | 2023-04-13 | by ( Manohla Dargis | ) www.nytimes.com   time to read: +2 min
Count Dracula has been dead for so long and gone through so many iterations — exotic, satanic, romantic — that it’s almost surprising there’s any juice left in the thirsty old boy. Yet here he is again, resurrected by a glorious, vamping Nicolas Cage, swinging a cape, baring his fangs and stealing his every scene. He’s basically toast, and our guy, the Count’s unhappy servant, Renfield (a Nicholas Hoult type, relatable, smooth, good-looking) — after years of groveling and scarfing bugs — has had it. After a century of pop-culture celebrity and box-office success there’s no need: He is what he is, a vampire. He’s also, unsurprisingly given the job’s grisly requirements, a terrible boss, which the movie uses to economically establish how the long-suffering Renfield joins the support group.
Val Emmich felt powerless when his elder daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. My daughters, 11-year-old Harper and 7-year-old Lennon, have Ttype 1 diabetes, a chronic condition in which the pancreas makes little or no insulin. That next day, Jill took Harper straight to the doctor. After examining Harper and running tests, the pediatrician took Jill aside and told her to bring Harper to the ER immediately. Raising two young children with type 1 diabetes is overwhelming.
Having a business partner you are personally close to can be a huge benefit, they said. Torsten Pieper, an academic at UNC Charlotte, told Insider that twins having distinct roles in a business can be beneficial. Research from the Institute for Family Business showed companies that promote themselves as family-run can gain greater trust and are better placed to attract talent. Phan said family businesses inherently care about their communities, because their identity is often attached to the community where they work. As long as we're together, that's greatAll the twins said their businesses have changed the nature of their relationships.
The update comes as the company removed last week the song catalogs of major labels from its video app. In 2020, Triller partnered with Billboard to publish weekly "Top Triller US" and "Top Triller Global" charts. In its statement to Insider, Triller suggested that removing music from major labels could help save the company money. The Triller app remains just one piece of the company's overall business. Triller even invoked TikTok in its statement about its decision to remove the catalogs of major music labels, writing that, "TikTok and the labels have aligned so closely."
All of these promotional functions have benefited the music industry, boosting streams on platforms like Spotify or Apple Music and helping artists grow their fan bases. The company filed a US trademark application in May for a potential music-streaming product called "TikTok Music," Insider first reported. Licensing negotiations to either expand Resso or introduce TikTok Music into other markets are underway, a person with direct knowledge of the process told Insider. Licensing negotiations are nearly constant in the music industryByteDance and TikTok already have existing agreements in place with major record labels and publishers like Warner Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, the National Music Publishers' Association, and ICE. Last quarter, YouTube's head of music wrote that the company paid out $6 billion to the music industry over a 12-month period.
